From personal experience, it can be quite hard to move away from home. Many things are different and family and friends are missed. But often people can‘t fulfill their habits, like they would at home.
This is the case of many international students who have difficulty in finding familiar grocery stores, bars or other things they would have at home. likeHome is an app, which supports people in finding thses places. It offers a calender, showing their own national holidays, as well as options to do specified searches for places. Those were combined with google ratings and an embedded route section. Friends can be added to exchange recommendations. The application was shaped around making it as easy as possible for international students to make their new place “like home”.
